Kakao Creative Foundation to Host Camp for Webtoon, Web Novel Creators
kakao Creative Foundation announced on June 30 it will host its first-ever "Grow-Up Creative Camp" for aspiring webtoon and web novel creators from November 3 to 7 in Yangpyeong, Korea.Designed as a hands-on program, the five-day camp will provide participants with intensive feedback and guidance from six established creators in the industry. Mentors include Do-gyeong Lee (The Legendary Moonlight Sculptor), Bungdeng (The Namgung Clan's Great Sage), and Hwaram (The Grand Mudang Saga) for webtoons, and Dalsle (Flirting with the Villain's Dad), Writer No. 8 (My Dad Is the Strongest in the World), and Jaya (Ebony) for web novels. All are popular creators with hit titles on Kakao Page.This camp follows kakao's regular lecture program "Grow-Up Talk & Talk" and marks a shift toward a more practical, production-focused training course. It aims to support creators from the writing stage through to debut, forming a complete growth pipeline for new talent.Throughout the camp, mentors will stay on-site with participants, offering real-time feedback on projects and sharing market insights. By the end of the program, four teams will be selected for awards — Grand Prize, First Prize, Excellence Award, and Encouragement Award — with winners receiving creative grants and one-on-one mentoring sessions with Kakao Page producers. The Grand Prize team will also receive an additional round of personal feedback from the participating mentors.Applications are open until July 27. Prospective participants must submit an application form, personal statement, project draft, logline, and synopsis. Webtoon applicants must include a full synopsis and at least three episodes of storyboard (conti), while web novel applicants must submit a synopsis and five or more episodes. Participation in the camp is free of charge.Naver WEBTOON officially sponsors the "Hyun-se Lee Cartoon Creation Camp" for aspiring webtoon creators.
