My Special One Shōjo Manga Also Gets Live-Action TV Series

The official website for the live-action film of Momoko Kōda's My Special One (Kimi ga Tokubetsu) manga revealed on Thursday that the manga will also have a live-action television series that will premiere on the MBS and TBS channels on September 16. The cast from the film will reprise their roles in the series.The series will continue the story of Sahoko (Mei Hata) and Kouta's (Kazuya Ōhashi) romance, sometimes telling the story from Kouta's perspective. The series will also go into the troubled relationship between Kanato Asuma (Keito Kimura) and celebrity idol Emika Nanase (Nako Yabuki), as well as the overall story of the LiKE LEGEND idol group. Atsuya Asano and Hidemitsu Miyamoto are directing the series, with Satoko Okazaki returning from the film as scriptwriter alongside Sachi Kirino.The television series will stream the TVer, MBS Dōgaizm, and Disney+ Star services, but the series' staff do not specify if the series will be available outside Japan. Viz Media publishes the manga in English, and it describes the manga's story: Kōda launched the manga in Bessatsu Margaret in March 2019. The manga went on hiatus in October 2022 due to Kōda's poor health, but resumed serialization last June. The series then ended on January 10.
