Thirdverse Announces Hello Kitty Skyland Social VR Game for Quest, Other VR Platforms

XR game studio Thirdverse announced on Thursday the Hello Kitty Skyland social VR game, which it will release on Meta Quest and other major virtual reality platforms. The game's early access is slated for release in late 2025. The game's Creator Program is also now open, and is accepting applications. Thirdverse posted a shorts video of the game's announcement: Hello Kitty Skyland is set in a virtual world called "Skyland," where Sanrio characters live. Players from around the world can enjoy a variety of activities and interactions with Sanrio characters. The game also offers multiplayer experiences, and crafting and customization of players' personal space and avatar. The game has a humanoid-style avatar, which players can customize and dress-up, and another avatar style designed for players to be able to move freely in the game. Players can seamlessly switch between the two styles.Thirdverse CEO Masaru Ohnogi is the game's executive producer.Developer Sunblink's Hello Kitty Island Adventure game launched for the Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam on January 30. The game debuted on Apple Arcade for iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, and Mac in July 2023.Nighthawk Interactive recently announced that it will release Imagineer's Hello Kitty and Friends: Freeze Tag Party game in English for the Nintendo Switch on November 6. The original game launched as a mobile game in June 2022 under the title Sanrio Characters Miracle Match and reached over one million downloads in its first two weeks of release. Imagineer released the Switch port of the game in Japan on March 27 under the title Sanrio Characters Miracle Match: Magical Onigokko.
