EnryuManga, an unauthorized webcomic hosting site, has removed all Naver WEBTOON content after receiving a cease-and-desist notice from WEBTOON Entertainment.In a statement posted on its homepage, EnryuManga confirmed the takedown and cited “the safety of our team members” and “the most mature course” as reasons for complying with the request. The site encouraged users to read on official platforms such as WEBTOON and Wattpad and noted plans to begin hosting Kakao titles in the future.WEBTOON Entertainment stated that the removal is part of its broader anti-piracy initiative, which includes legal enforcement and proprietary technology. The company's AI-powered system, Toon Radar, is designed to proactively detect and delay the spread of pirated content. According to WEBTOON, the program has contributed to a 93% takedown rate of illegal comic-hosting sites in South Korea and 76% globally between 2017 and June 2024.The EnryuManga takedown is the latest development in WEBTOON's ongoing efforts to limit unauthorized distribution of its content.
