Aichi Launches International Animation Festival
The festival will screen films at the Midland Square Cinema, Midland Square Cinema 2, 109 Cinemas Nagoya, and Nagoya Shishashitsu theaters. The festival will include screenings of projects from local schools such as Nagoya Mode Gakuen and HAL Nagoya.The festival will hold competitions in six categories. The Animation Film category will feature animateds work 40 minutes or longer in length, and will begin accepting entries on June 11. The other categories include the Invitational Screening category — which will feature screenings of the latest foreign and domestic films of note — as well as the Feature Screening category, New Wave category, Keynote Speech category, and Seminar/Conference Program category.GENCO producer Tarō Maki is the festival's general producer. Former Kadokawa executive vice-president and former Newtype editor-in-chief Shinichirō Inoue is the festival director, with anime journalist and Anime! Anime! founder Tadashi Sudo as artistic director.
